The Town of Halton Hills is continuing its efforts to address illegal truck depots operating on properties throughout the municipality.
Commercial truck terminals are not permitted on lands zoned for residential or agricultural use. However, the Town has identified a number of properties where tractor-trailers and transport trucks are being stored or dispatched without the appropriate zoning approvals or permits.
Illegal truck depots can create a range of concerns for the community, including increased heavy truck traffic on rural roads, noise and lighting impacts for nearby residents, and potential damage to agricultural land. These operations can also affect road safety and place additional strain on local infrastructure.
Town staff are actively investigating complaints and pursuing enforcement through the appropriate legal channels. Property owners found to be operating illegal truck depots may face fines and orders requiring the use to cease and the property to be brought back into compliance with municipal zoning by-laws.
Residents who are aware of potential illegal truck depot activity are encouraged to report it so the Town can investigate.
